There are two contradictory philosophies in regards to the teacher-student relationship. While the first suggest that the teacher should always keep in mind that they have to make it clear that students are not their friends and they would have to show them this, and not just tell them. The other philosophy suggests a good and friendly relationship leads to a better developed relation and respect, in addition higher achievement
In my opinion, all teachers make mistake when they are teaching. But I think that one the worst mistakes is to destroy the relationship between them and their students. Therefore, the teacher needs to be friendly and should be understanding for their students and their problems. And also, they have to be ready to offer help and support. Also they should be ready to discuss, and not to be stubborn. Rather, they should be open minded and have good communication skills, and should be accessible to everyone.
In short, I think that students should have a relationship with their teacher that is not that of an enemy nor that of their best friend. Because it is always easy to remember your best and worst teacher.
