We all know the importance of educational intelligence, which is a way to perceive the emotions of others and to interact with our environment. But I think that emotional intelligence is more important than intellectual intelligence. And it goes beyond the classical intelligence.
Computers, robots, smart phones are also intelligent. So what makes us, as people, different from them? It is absolutely this emotional intelligence, which these technological devices lack. this helps us characterize our humanity. It helps us hide out weakness. It open us to others. And it is also a criteria to measure success.
What is good about emotional intelligence, is that we can improve it through different training programs. And what is interesting is that "Affectiva" has developed a pair of glasses to decode the meaning of the emotions of the person whom we are discussing with.A small built in camera can monitor 24 points on the face of the collar and their movements. Three colors are responsible for translating the expressions of the speaker, depending on whether they are negative, neutral or positive.
When I attended a webinar on emotional intelligence I was shocked to see how it can affect the students in class. Normally, at school, we would focus more on the intellectual intelligence, and neglect this emotional aspect of our personality and character. Therefore, I think It is important that we start training ourselves at first, to be able to help the students get emotionally in touch with their emotions, and thus to be able to understand and relate to what they are feeling, and why they are feeling these emotions. I advise everyone to at least attend one of the webinars that are based on emotional intelligence so that they can benefit from it, and can better understand why we should integrate emotional intelligence in our curriculum, rather than just focusing in the intellectual intelligence,
